Tata Communications’ revenues up 23% to $819 million; net loss at INR 2,010 million in Q3

Telecom Lead Asia: Tata Communications’ revenues increased 23 percent to $819 million in Q3 FY 2013 from $709 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Tata Communications’ net loss reached INR 2,010 million against net loss of INR 1,531 million in Q3 FY 2012.

The core business revenues increased 25 percent to $730 million from $623 million in Q3 FY 2012.

Tata Communications’ global voice minutes reached 15.6 billion from 13.4 billion minutes.

Global data services revenues grew 21 percent to $321 million from $283 million.

Vinod Kumar, MD and group CEO, Tata Communications, says the company has firmly established all the foundational pieces required to support a solid, global communications and media business and are now focused on sweating its global assets.

During the nine months, revenues increased to $2.354 billion from $2.173 billion, growing at 25 percent.

The core business in nine months grew 27 percent to $2.091 billion from $1.9 billion.

Tata Communications’ global voice minutes in nine months touched 46.7 billion voice minutes compared to 40.1 billion minutes.

Global data services revenues increased 24 percent to $920 million from $856 million.

Its net loss in 9 months reached INR 6,181 million.

Tata Communications said its managed services grew 27 percent and next gen network services increased 30 percent in nine months.

The company has undertaken a staff optimization initiative in Q3 FY13.

While some benefit has started flowing in Q4 FY13, full benefit will reflect beginning Q1 FY14.

Several other initiatives are underway on network and other cost.
