Nepal Telecom Launches Online Portal for NT Fiber Services

Nepal Telecom has launched an online portal allowing customers to request new fiber-to-the-home connections and register service complaints. The initiative follows increased customer interest in its NT Fiber services after the introduction of special offers. The state-owned operator has also expanded the capacity of its dedicated customer-service hotline, 198, to handle inquiries and requests for new connections. Customers can access the portal using their Nepal Telecom mobile number. The company recently introduced a 30 Mbps fiber broadband package priced at NPR 4,999, alongside other available packages. The digital service is intended to simplify customer access, improve complaint handling and support growing demand for fixed broadband connectivity in Nepal.

BT’s EE Expands 5G+ Network Beyond 80% UK Population Coverage, Targets 99% by 2030

BT Group has reported that its EE 5G+ network now covers more than 80 percent of the United Kingdom’s population. The October 21 milestone follows approximately two years of network expansion. EE says its advanced 5G infrastructure now carries more than 10 percent of total mobile data traffic, approximately double the proportion recorded a year earlier. Newly covered locations include Bicester, Chester, Durham, Portrush, Strabane, Neath, Penarth, Greenock and Alexandria. EE is targeting 99 percent population coverage by March 2030. The operator is also preparing a commercial-network AI-RAN trial in Birmingham during 2027. Investment value, additional site numbers and average user speeds associated with the latest coverage expansion were not disclosed.

Virgin Media O2 Expands Standalone 5G+ Network to 219,000 People in Cumbria

Virgin Media O2 has activated its 5G Standalone network across additional communities in Cumbria, England, extending advanced mobile connectivity to more than 219,000 people. Announced on October 21, the rollout covers Carlisle, Barrow-in-Furness, Workington, Ulverston and surrounding locations. Unlike 5G Non-Standalone deployments that depend on existing 4G core infrastructure, the upgraded network uses a dedicated 5G core to support lower latency and improved network performance. The deployment forms part of Virgin Media O2’s £700 million Mobile Transformation Plan, which includes new mobile sites, small cells, spectrum deployment, automation and radio-network modernization during 2026. The operator has not disclosed the Cumbria project’s standalone investment, spectrum configuration or number of upgraded sites.
