The Information Technology Industry Council, representing major tech firms, argued the rule would impose arbitrary constraints on U.S. companies and risk losing the global market to competitors.

The proposed restrictions aim to limit AI’s role in advancing China’s military capabilities. Critics, including ITI and the Semiconductor Industry Association, emphasized the potential negative impact on the U.S. economy and called for a more deliberate rulemaking process.

Oracle’s executive criticized the rule as overly broad, potentially damaging the commercial cloud industry.

The Information Technology Industry Council represents companies like Amazon, Microsoft and Meta.
