Cable broadband network market revenue up 8% in Q3 2014 to $445 mn

The global cable broadband market revenue for CCAP, CMTS, edge QAM, and CMC equipment rose 8 percent in Q3 2014 to $445 million sequentially, said Infonetics Research.

Arris, Casa Systems, Cisco, and Harmonic are some of the leading players in the cable broadband network market. Infonetics did not share market share of these vendors.

DOCSIS channel shipments

The revenue of CCAP increased 7 percent to $360 million 3Q14 due to the shift from CMTS to CCAP platforms over the last few quarters. In North America, cable operators are focusing on deploying new hardware.

“Total upstream and downstream DOCSIS channels were 1.2 million in Q3 2014 and up 95 percent over what was shipped globally a year ago. This reflects how much the cable companies are investing to support higher-bandwidth services such as IP video and to compete with fiber,” said Jeff Heynen, principal analyst for broadband access and pay TV at Infonetics Research.
