Idea Cellular’s 3G data ARPU (average revenue per user) has overtaken its total ARPU in the last two quarters.
The 3G data ARPU of Idea Cellular, an Aditya Birla group company, has reached Rs 197 against ARPU of Rs 179 in Q3 FY 2015, Rs 195 (Rs 176) in Q2 FY 2015, Rs 177 (Rs 181) in Q1 FY 2015, Rs 164 (Rs 173) in Q4 FY 2014 and Rs 179 (Rs 169) in Q3 FY 2014.
The growth in 3G data ARPU reflects the surge in Idea Cellular’s 3G subscribers that rose to 16.1 million in Q3 FY 2015 from 13.1 million in Q2 FY 2015. Idea Cellular has 150.5 million 2G and 3G users across the country. Out of this, 3G data subscribers are 12,94,5000. Total 2G and 3G users of Idea Cellular stand at 34,155,000.
During the last five quarters, Idea Cellular’s data ARPU (both 2G and 3G) reached Rs 126 in Q3 FY 2015 against voice ARPU of Rs 138, Rs 119 (Rs 139) in Q2 FY 2015, Rs 108 (Rs 149) in Q1 FY 2015, Rs 104 (Rs 145) in Q4 FY 2014 and Rs 91 (Rs 142) in Q3 FY 2014.
Idea Cellular, announcing the financial result, said its data volume increased to 46,077 million MB in Q3 FY 2015 from 39,428 million MB. 3G data volume was 24,977 million MB against 19,786 million MB.
The telecom operator said its data usage per user rose to 470 MB from 447 MB. 3G data usage per user was 705 MB against 693 MB.
Idea Cellular said its third quarter revenue rose Rs 8,017.5 crore from Rs 75,699 in second quarter of fiscal 2015. Its net profit grew to Rs 767 crore from Rs 756 crore.
