Lenovo has displaced Samsung and Datawind to become the No. 1 player in India tablet market, according to research firm IDC.
The Chinese brand now leads the Indian tablets market with 21.8 percent share beating Samsung and Datawind.
Lenovo gained the top spot in the tablets category with a q-o-q growth of 12.6 percent. Significant wins from government, education and large enterprises helped the company’s commercial tablets business gain strong traction in this quarter.
Lenovo tablets have seen a significance increase in traction across e-commerce platforms. Lenovo Yoga Series & A-series Tablets propelled Lenovo’s industry beating growth. Over the last couple of quarters, Lenovo has recorded stable growth in the tablets market in India.
“Our strong foothold in various sectors has helped us gain this position and we wish for a continued progress in Q2 as well,” said Rahul Agarwal, MD and CEO of Lenovo India.
Incidentally, Lenovo is the 5th largest tablet brand globally — below Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Amazon.
