India broadband subscriber base grows 3.7% to 109 mn: TRAI

The number of broadband subscribers increased 3.71 percent to 108.85 million in June 2015 from 104.96 million in May 2015, according to TRAI.

Out of 108.85 million broadband subscribers, 15.70 million was wired broadband subscribers, 92.70 million mobile broadband subscribers and 0.45 million fixed wireless subscribers.

The number of broadband subscriber of Bharti Airtel was 24.56 million, Vodafone 22.08 million, BSNL 18.20 million, Idea Cellular 16.67 million and Reliance Communications 9.74 million in June 2015, said TRAI.

BSNL has 9.91 million wired broadband subscribers, Bharti Airtel 1.47 million, MTNL 1.13 million, Atria Convergence Technologies 0.72 million and YOU Broadband 0.46 million.

Bharti Airtel has 23.09 million wireless broadband subscribers, Vodafone 22.07 million, Idea Cellular 16.67 million, Reliance Communications 9.63 million and BSNL 8.29 million.

TRAI said India’s wireline subscriber base declined 0.44 percent to 26.15 million in June 2015 from 26.27 million in May 2015. The share of urban wireline subscribers was 81.27 percent and rural wireline subscribers were 18.73 percent in June 2015.
