GSM operators add 5.55 mn mobile subscribers in October

GSM operators have 791.62 million subscribers at the end of October. GSM operators added 2.09 million in August.

Airtel added 2.33 million additional mobile subscribers in October to take its total subscriber base to 262.67 million.

Vodafone added 1.18 million mobile subscribers to reach 201.90 million subscribers in October 2016.

Idea Cellular added 1.44 million users to reach customer base of 180.25 million subscribers, said COAI in a statement.

With 33.13 percent, Bharti Airtel owns the maximum market share in the industry.

UP East added the maximum number of subscribers (72.46 million) in October. Maharashtra came second with 67.45 million mobile subscribers, with Bihar coming a close third with 67.41 million subscribers. Andhra Pradesh leads in the number of new additions with 0.77 million new subscribers in the month.
