U.S. Cellular selects Gemalto for LTE deployment

Telecom Lead America: U.S. Cellular, a mobile operator in
the U.S, has selected Gemalto’s LinqUs Advanced Connectivity solution for
its 4G/LTE service launch.

Built on Gemalto’s LinqUs Advanced OTAplatform and
utilizing UpTeq LTE subscriber module, the LinqUs solution will enable
U.S. Cellular to authenticate subscribers to the LTE and CDMA networks and
manage its secure access to 4G services with industry-leading efficiency.

Gemalto’s solution will help our customers maintain the
faster connections to the people, information and entertainment that enhance
and simplify their lives,” said Michael S. Irizarry, executive vice president
chief technology officer, engineering and information services at U.S.
Cellular.

The newly deployed OTA platform will enable the carrier
to quickly activate subscriptions and manage access to personalized services
over IP-based LTE mobile networks.

The changing wireless ecosystem is paving the way for
incredible opportunities ahead for mobile network providers like U.S. Cellular.
Gemalto has expertise in the LTE space and is committed to supporting U.S.
Cellular to reinforce its cutting edge innovation, network enhancement and
unmatched customer service,” said Sébastien Cano, senior vice president of
Telecommunications at Gemalto North America.

Gemalto claims that the UpTeq LTE embedded with Gemalto’s
secure polling software ensures 100 percent success rate for the download
and activation of mission critical applications such as M2M subscriptions,
large NFC payment applications and the credentials for streaming video content
over LTE networks.

U.S. Cellular announces 4G LTE expansion

In February, U.S. Cellular, in association with King
Street Wireless, announced the new markets that will be covered with 4G LTE

U.S. Cellular said that by the second half of 2012, customers
in more than 3,600 additional cities and towns in urban and rural areas will
have access to 4G LTE speeds.

U.S. Cellular joins forces with Alltel Wireless to offer
prepaid wireless service

Recently, U.S. Cellular teamed up with Alltel Wireless to
begin offering U Prepaid, a no contract wireless service, in nearly
