Telenor names new CEOs for Thailand and Myanmar

Telenor grows in AsiaTelenor Group announced major changes in top management including new CEOs in Asia and changes in the group.

Alexandra Reich will be the new CEO of dtac as the replacement for Lars Ake Norling who is leaving Telenor.

Alexandra Reich joined Telenor Group in November 2016, and currently serves as CEO of Telenor Hungary and head of Telenor Group’s Central Eastern Europe cluster.

Sharad Mehrotra will be the new CEO of Telenor Myanmar. Sharad Mehrotra joined Telenor in 2008 and has served in senior management positions in India and Myanmar, most recently as CEO of Telenor India.

Sharad Mehrotra replaces Lars Erik Tellmann, who has been appointed to a senior position in Telenor’s Emerging Asia cluster supporting management, partnerships and business development of the cluster.

Albern Murty, CEO of Digi in Malaysia, will join Telenor Group’s executive management team responsible for the Developed Asia cluster. Albern Murty will retain his CEO position in Digi and oversee Telenor’s operations in Thailand and Malaysia.

Wenche Agerup, head of Corporate Affairs, will head a new unit called Group Holdings and will be responsible for strengthening the development of Telenor’s investments in digital growth areas, telco-adjacent businesses and other areas like real estate and global wholesale.

Hakon Bruaset Kjol, head of Public and Regulatory Affairs will act in the role till Telenor find a new replacement.

Telenor will appoint a new communication head because Severin Roald, who has served as head of Group Communications since 2015, is leaving Telenor.

“We rely on managers and experts who dare to step out of their comfort zone and take on challenges where they can learn and develop,” said Sigve Brekke, president and CEO of Telenor Group.
