TelecomLead Awards 2017: TelecomLead Mobile Operator- Airtel

airtelThe jury of TelecomLead Awards 2017 has decided to present TelecomLead Mobile Operator award to Airtel India headed by CEO Gopal Vittal for the company’s strategies, innovation and contribution to Indian telecom industry in the last 12 months.

Airtel, as part of its consolidation strategy, acquired spectrum from Videocon and Aircel in 14 circles. Airtel is also acquiring Telenor India and Tikona Digital Networks.

Airtel, which continued Project Leap with an investment of Rs 60,000 over 3 years, deployed 180,000 mobile sites across India in the last two years.

Airtel, under the leadership of India CEO Gopal Vittal, launched Open Network initiative which offers entire network information including coverage, site details and signal strength is being made available to the customers. Customers can assess the quality of their mobile signal in their area. Consumers can log geographical location based network complaints. Airtel used Open Network program to improvise current network infrastructure and plan new sites.

Airtel invested in digital programs to assist ecosystem of 280 million rural and urban customers, 1.6 million retail and 17,000+ employees.

Last year, Airtel achieved the milestone of 1 MWP rooftop solar at main switching centres (MSC) sites. Airtel has installed rooftop solar plants at 3 locations, with a total installed capacity of 200 kWp.

TelecomLead Awards Jury details

Satya N Gupta, Jury Chairman and Jury Members including Ravindra Kr Mishra, Rakesh Mehrotra, Girish Trivedi and Baburajan Kizhakedath decided the winners of the TelecomLead Awards 2017 through two rounds of jury meeting in June / July 2017.
