TelecomLead Awards 2017: TelecomLead 4G Operator – Reliance Jio

jioThe jury of TelecomLead Awards 2017 has decided to present TelecomLead 4G Operator award to Reliance Jio Infocomm, a company promoted and guided by Mukesh Ambani, for bringing out new pricing model, strategies, cost effective data plans and presenting innovative technologies in the last 12 months.

Reliance Jio, after launching services in September 2016, continued its dominance in the 4G Internet market in the country. Jio, under the leadership of Mukesh Ambani, has spent almost $25 billion over the last 4-5 years to build a 4G only network focusing on innovative technologies such as SDN and NFV. Its entry strategy of offering free voice and data services has helped the company unseat Airtel as the market leader in wireless broadband subscribers, with 36 percent share of SIM cards.

Addition of 100 million Jio subscribers in 170 days of launch and the latest paid subscription drive were the main achievements for Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio has created an eco-system of digital services and apps offering services such as live TV, on demand movies, music, magazines and news among others.

Reliance Jio acquired 269.2 MHz spectrum in FY 2016-17 for Rs 13,672 crore even before testing the market conditions. Jio has 4G presence in all 29 states of India with direct physical presence in more than 18,000 urban and rural towns and over 200,000 villages.
