The free offer is being offered at a time when DIRECTV NOW is getting several negative reviews about its performance.

The latest strategy of T-Mobile is to expand its wireless customer base by attracting video customers from AT&T. AT&T used free video streaming services to retain and attract new wireless customers in the U.S.

“Every former AT&T customer who took us up on our offer now gets a free year of Hulu on us – and they get to enjoy it on a faster, more advanced network with unlimited data,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile.

AT&T made an investment of $67 billion to acquire DIRECTV.

T-Mobile customers stream videos twice as much as the carrier customers.
