Proximus Group has named Stijn Bijnens as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025. Aged 56 and born in Bilzen, Belgium, Stijn Bijnens holds a master’s degree in computer science from KU Leuven. He is widely regarded as a visionary entrepreneur and technology leader. His professional journey began in 1995 with the founding of NetVision, later renamed Ubizen, a pioneering network security firm. In 1999, he was recognized as “Manager of the Year” by Trends magazine.

Stijn Bijnens brings a diverse mix of private and public sector experience. He led the Limburgse Reconversie Maatschappij (LRM) starting in 2008, before taking the helm at Cegeka in 2019. During his tenure, Cegeka rose to become one of Europe’s most prominent ICT companies, expanding its capabilities across 5G, cloud, cybersecurity, AI, and digital workplace solutions.

The Board sees Stijn Bijnens’ customer-focused mindset, innovation leadership, and stakeholder management as a strong alignment with the Proximus “Think Possible” culture. As CEO, his mandate will be to drive the company’s next strategic cycle, scale its gigabit network, and reinforce Proximus’ leadership across residential, business, and ICT segments in Belgium. He will also play a critical role in shaping Proximus’ international expansion, jointly with the yet-to-be-appointed CEO of Proximus Global.

Stijn Bijnens said:

“I am excited to take up the role of CEO of Proximus Group. In my past interactions with the company, I have seen its professionalism, the strength of its brands, and the excellence of its networks. Together with the leadership team, I look forward to driving innovation and value for customers, employees, shareholders, and society.”

The transition follows the departure of outgoing CEO Guillaume Boutin, who led Proximus through a transformative period marked by 5G and fiber network acceleration, international expansion, and the creation of Proximus NXT and Proximus Global. Guillaume Boutin will join Vodafone Group as CEO of Vodafone Investments & Strategy.

Jan Van Acoleyen, who has been serving as interim CEO since Boutin’s exit in mid-May, will continue in that capacity until Bijnens assumes office.

Stefaan De Clerck, Chairman of the Board, said:

“Stijn Bijnens is the ideal leader to take Proximus to the next level. With his proven track record and deep expertise, I’m confident he will continue the journey of innovation and sustainable growth.”
