Apple Music eyes the future with innovation-driven artist hub

As Apple Music celebrates its 10th anniversary, the company is doubling down on innovation and artist empowerment with the unveiling of a new creative studio in Los Angeles. This milestone marks a pivotal step in Apple’s forward-looking strategy to transform not just how music is consumed, but how it’s created, experienced, and shared globally.

At the heart of this initiative is a 15,000-square-foot, multi-level studio space tailored for next-generation content creation. Opening this summer, the facility is equipped with innovative tools, including immersive Spatial Audio studios, a large-scale soundstage for live performances, and advanced editing and social media labs. It’s designed to serve as both a production powerhouse and a creative sanctuary — supporting everything from intimate artist interviews to fan-focused events and high-fidelity music production.

This Los Angeles hub is set to anchor a growing global network of Apple Music creative studios, with locations already active in cities like New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville — and more on the way. The expansion signals Apple’s broader vision of building an international creative ecosystem that caters to local culture while maintaining global reach.

The new studio also reinforces Apple Music Radio’s evolution as a central storytelling platform for artists and fans alike. With around-the-clock streaming, Apple Music Radio has become a launchpad for global premieres, exclusive artist sessions, and deep-dive specials. The team behind it, including longtime hosts Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, sees this next chapter as an opportunity to deepen connections and elevate how music is shared and celebrated in real time.

Future plans include rolling out new artist-focused tools, expanding immersive audio experiences, and leveraging Apple’s ecosystem — from iPhone to Vision Pro — to create more personalized and engaging music interactions. Features like Replay All Time and the Top 500 Most-Streamed Songs countdown showcase Apple Music’s commitment to data-driven fan experiences that honor listener history and musical legacy.

With over 100 million songs available, seamless integration across Apple devices, and an ad-free, privacy-conscious platform, Apple Music is not just commemorating a decade of success — it’s laying the groundwork for a new era of music innovation powered by artist creativity and technological advancement.

Apple Music subscribers

Apple does not reveal its revenue and subscribers of Apple Music. Media reports indicate that Apple Music has reached approximately 93 million paid subscribers as of mid-2024. The service contributes significantly to Apple’s services revenue, with annual revenue from Apple Music estimated at over $9 billion. It holds about 12.6 percent of the global music streaming market and nearly 31 percent of the U.S. subscriber base, placing it second behind Spotify.

Apple Music’s individual plan in the U.S. is priced at $10.99 per month. The family plan costs $16.99, and the student plan is $5.99. Occasionally, Apple offers promotional deals for new users.

Spotify remains the global leader with between 239 million and 252 million premium subscribers as of early 2025, and a total of over 640 million monthly active users. Spotify’s U.S. subscription costs $11.99 per month, and it has recently raised prices in multiple international markets. It is also planning a new super-premium tier with additional features priced around $18 per month.

Amazon Music Unlimited has a global market share of about 11 percent. In the U.S., its prices have increased to $10.99 per month for Prime members and $11.99 for non-Prime users. The family plan now costs $19.99 per month.

YouTube Music, bundled with YouTube Premium, holds a smaller share of the global music market, with modest growth and a focus on music-video integration. Tidal, known for high-resolution audio and higher artist payouts, remains a niche player with a small but dedicated user base.
