SK Telecom, a leading mobile operator in Korea, is one of the winners of TelecomLead Innovation Leaders 2018 Award, for innovations in the areas of LoRa-based IoT service and Artificial intelligence (AI) segments.
SK Telecom is powering LiveCare, a low-power, long-range LoRa-based IoT service that enables farmers to monitor and manage their livestock in real time. LiveCare is an IoT livestock management system jointly developed by SK Telecom and uLike Korea, which enables farmers to monitor and manage their livestock in real time.
By orally administrating a bio capsule embedded with a LoRa communication module into the cow, farmers can monitor the body temperature and acidity level (pH) of cows to detect signs of illness, determine optimal timing of insemination, and recognize signs of calving.
The data measured with the capsule are sent to the server automatically through LoRa station to be analyzed for specific patterns. Upon detecting abnormal health conditions, notifications are sent to the farmer’s mobile device or PC.

LiveCare allows less risk of damage and higher accuracy in health check. LiveCare is certified as oral administration animal medical device for the first time in Korea.
SK Telecom delivers lower-power, lower-volume data transmission on LoRa networks, while dedicating LTE-M network to high-volume data transmission for its IoT services. The deployment of LTE Cat-M1, which was done in 2017, will help SK Telecom to upgrade all its LTE-M network operations to a higher level.
SK Telecom linked the LTE Cat-M1 network with its commercial LoRa networks to help in identifying data generated from IoT devices and control them at a single server to allocate high-volume data to the LTE Cat-M1 network and low-volume data to the LoRa network.

As the nation’s first AI-based companion for drivers, T map x NUGU provides better accuracy based on real-time traffic information to 11 million monthly active users and 3.7 million daily active users.
T map x NUGU can prevent accidents which can occur while operating navigation, text messaging or calling. The system also leverages machine learning technology by learning and applying data accumulated from users.
