The previous CEO Khaled al-Ghoneim resigned in March 2013 after spending less than one year at STC. Currently, STC Chairman Abdulaziz al-Sugair has the additional responsibility of the CEO as well.

A Reuters report said Biyari will assume his new role on April 27.

On Monday, STC posted a 33 percent decrease in fourth-quarter profit. Domestically, STC competes with Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), an affiliate of Abu Dhabi-listed Etisalat, and Zain Saudi, part-owned by Kuwait’s Zain.
