Go Ignite launched for telecom start-ups

Go Ignite – an alliance floated by innovation business of Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Singtel, and Telefonica will connect the start-up ecosystems across Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

Go Ignite is looking for supporting start-ups in Internet of Things (IoT), cyber security, big data analytics, content delivery and customer experience enhancement. Go Ignite will select up to five innovative start-ups for the program. The acceptance of response from start-ups ends on 30 April.

The name of the website is go-ignite.com.

Go Ignite will offer business development opportunities, assistance for the commercialization of innovations and scale business outside their home market to the selected start-ups.

Assistance will be in the form of insights into different markets, introductions to partners, the use of co-working spaces, potential investment, coaching, mentoring, invitations to start-up showcases and events and access to the alliance members’ operating businesses.

OptiWi-fi, a Wayra-Telefonica Open Future startup, has patented Wi-Fi technology enables telecoms to extend cellular services over Wi-Fi.

“As a result of the collaboration between Orange and Telefonica, our engagement was accelerated and we are now working on a pilot for Orange’s Innovation Team. This is a great success for OptiWi-fi and should benefit Orange and its customers relying on Wi-Fi services in to the future,” said Mark Burke, chief executive officer of OptiWi-fi.

Idomoo has developed a personalized video storytelling technology to engage customers through dynamic and real time videos.

Min-Kin Mak, VP of hub:raum, Deutsche Telekom, Nathalie Boulanger, Start-up Ecosystem Director of Orange, Edgar Hardless, chief executive officer of Singtel Innov8 and Ana Segurado, managing director of Telefonica Open Future are driving the start-up programs for telecoms.
