Globe Telecom expands LTE TDD/FDD footprint

Globe Telecom announced it is expanding the LTE TDD and LTE-FDD footprint as part of its efforts to strengthen mobile data infrastructure and meet the digital lifestyle demands from consumers.

The enhanced service is expected to deliver faster and more reliable wireless internet connectivity.

The expansion involves activation of close to 4,300 cell sites with LTE technologies. LTE-TDD and LTE-FDD technologies offer higher bandwidth, which enhances speed of data transfer, provides lower latency and increases overall network capacity, according to Globe Telecom.

“Upgrading our network capacity and expanding our LTE TDD/FDD network would make our network more robust and resilient to serve growing data requirement of our customers and enhance their digital lifestyle,” Globe president & CEO Ernest Cu said.

“The two-pronged network expansion ensures reliable and fast mobile internet service, allowing customers to experience seamless video streaming and post on their social media accounts anytime and anywhere,” Cu emphasized.

The expansion will help Globe strengthen its mobile data service in major metropolitan areas such as Manila, Cebu, Davao and other key cities and tourist destinations in the country.

Globe has carried out $700 million network modernization initiative to deliver the most advanced network infrastructure in the country. It has now completed nationwide rollout of 4G network using the HSPA+ technology.
