Batelco inks ICT deal with BDB

Telecom Lead Middle-East: In a bid to explore
collaborations that support local information communication technology (ICT)
entrepreneurship initiatives and projects, Bahrain Telecommunications (Batelco)
has joined forces with with Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) by signing a
strategic memorandum of understanding.

 

Speaking on the collaboration, Batelco Bahrain chief
executive Rashid Abdulla said the co-operation with the BDB will help the
company to expand in the field of ICT entrepreneurship projects.

 

The co-operation between both companies will support
local talent and encourages entrepreneurs.

 

The BDB is well-known for its support and efforts to
encourage entrepreneurs who are striving to evolve their innovative projects
and initiatives,” Abdulla added.

 

Abdulla concluded such agreements will help keep Batelco
well ahead of demand by focusing on the changing face of the telecoms
technology industry.

 

The association will serve as a tool to support youth
projects and innovative excellence in the telecommunications and information
technology sector.

 

“Through this agreement, we will be providing
additional programmes and support to entrepreneurs through the establishment of
new projects within the information and telecommunication technologies domain
as well as further development of existing projects,” said Nedhal Al
Aujan, chief executive at BDB.

 

Broadband operator Batelco selects Aptilo Networks to launch
new pre-paid initiative

 

In March this year, Batelco launched a new prepaid
initiative called Broadband for All. Working with Aptilo Networks, Batelco
is offering high-speed broadband service 1Mbps speeds for two Bahraini dinar
(BD2).
