AT&T to add 120 jobs in Ohio

American wireless carrier AT&T today said it would hire more than 120 resources around Ohio, including more than 90 new jobs.

Over the 22-month period from January 2013 through October 2014, AT&T hired more than 1,600, including positions in IT/engineering, retail, technician, call center, business solutions and corporate support categories.

AT&T is hiring at a time when Verizon is contemplating a job cut to eliminate 1,000 resources before this year-end. Sprint, the SoftBank-owned telecom carrier, recently said it would slash 2,000 jobs to cut costs.

AT&T invested more than $1.6 billion in its Ohio wireless and wireline networks from 2011 through 2013, with a focus on expanding 4G LTE mobile Internet coverage and enhancing the performance of its networks.

The company invested in macro cell sites, small cells and Distributed Antenna Systems across the state as a part of AT&T’s Project Velocity IP. The company also enhanced its 4G LTE networks and deployed new Wi-Fi hot spots.

Adam Grzybicki, president of AT&T Ohio, said: “As we continue to focus on wireline and wireless network upgrades, we are proud to have the opportunity to welcome more Ohioans into the AT&T family.”
