ZTE optical smart access platform tops global GPON ranking

By Telecom Lead Team: Chinese telecom equipment vendor
ZTE announced that its optical smart access platform, the ZTE ZXA10 C300, was
given the top ranking in Current Analysis recent product performance evaluation
report of the GPON market.

ZTE said that the ZXA10 C300 platform is an integral part
of its unified access solution, which supports standards-based GPON and EPON,
as well as point-to-point (P2P)/active Ethernet FTTP and 10G EPON/GPON.

This is an acknowledgment of our continuous R&D
efforts in developing innovative platforms that offer high performance levels
and reduced total cost of ownership, thus matching broadband provider business
models,” said  Zhu Yongxing, GM of fixed-line product at ZTE.

Its multi-technology capability means it can be used
across a variety of FTTx access network architectures such as FTTH, FTTC, FTTO,
FTTB, FTTB+LAN and FTTB+DSL.

The future-proof ZXA10 C300 platform paves the way for
access layer optical network evolution and supports up to 800 Gbps switching
and matrix capacities, and up to 3.2 Terabits backplane capacity.

The ZXA10 C300 can help operators maximize their revenues
by supporting more bandwidth-hungry services like high definition video with up
to 40 Gbps of bandwidth per subscriber slot.

“ZTE’s ZXA10 C300 has achieved the top overall
ranking in our most recent GPON OLT product class evaluation, with an unmatched
score of 25 out of 25, based on the cumulative score garnered in five
categories critical to customer purchase decisions,” said Erik M.
Keith, principal analyst for Fixed Access Infrastructure at Current Analysis.

To date, ZTE’s xPON optical access products including the
ZXA10 C300 platform have achieved sales totaling 96million lines worldwide
and rank in the top two overall in the global PON market.

In
Q3 2011, ZTE ruled the next generation PON (NG PON) equipment market with 100
percent share.

ZTE was also the first telecommunications company in the
world to ship OLT & ONT/ONU equipment during the quarter.
