Nokia Packet Core solutions will enable Telefonica to deploy low-latency services such as drone control, robotics and industrial applications, and smart metering for real-time monitoring and billing of utility consumption. These services will enhance connectivity for the operator’s enterprise customers, supporting a range of advanced use cases.

Telefonica and Nokia already collaborate across multiple network technologies, including 5G RAN, XGSPON, IP and Optical transport, network analytics, and network APIs. Telefonica will integrate Nokia Cloud Mobile Gateway and Nokia Mediation into its telco cloud, leveraging their multi-vendor and multi-cloud capabilities to enhance operational efficiencies and flexibility.

Nokia Cloud Mobile Gateway will allow Telefonica to optimize traffic management and routing for enterprise users, a key area for operator growth. The solution will enhance network performance, delivering improved user experiences for business applications.

Erez Sverdlov, Vice President, Cloud and Network Services Market Leader for Europe at Nokia, stated: “We support Telefonica in strengthening the enterprise customer experience in Spain. Beyond better data capacity, latency, and reliability, our packet core will also provide a local breakout of user traffic with our latest generation appliances, reducing latency and enhancing security.”

Nokia had the highest number of 5G Standalone Core communication service provider customers, totaling 123 globally.
