Telecom Argentina selects ATEME for Copa America contribution feeds

ATEME announced that Telecom Argentina has selected its
Kyrion contribution solution to bring the Copa America soccer event held in
July in Argentina to viewers in America and Europe.

The service operator deployed CM4101 encoders and DR8400
decoders supporting MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 up to 4:2:2 10-bit compression, and HD
resolution up to 1080p60.

“We wanted to offer our Clients Broadcasters,
Satcasters and other holders of a license for distribution to consumers – the
best possible picture quality, while investing in future proof technology”
said Alfredo Musitani, product manager, Video Broadcasting and Special Services
at Telecom Argentina.

“Throughout the field trials, ATEME and their local
integrator LADE Profesional provided great support to our operations
team,” Musitani added.

“This is the first time high definition MPEG-4 4:2:2
10-bit technology is embraced in the region for premium sports content
transmission; for sure more projects will follow. We were very happy to team
with Telecom Argentina and LADE Professional for this milestone
deployment,” said Raul Rivera, director of sales for Latin America, at
ATEME.

Telecom Argentina’s wholesale unit offers managed video
services to broadcasters, satcasters or other right owners of license for
distribution to end consumer services. It offers its own Fiber Video Network
for compressed and uncompressed video services from main sports and cultural
venues, connected with fiber optics, directly to the main media operators in
the country, in other neighbor countries, in the US and to the rest of the
world.

Recently, Ateme has revealed
that its Kyrion contribution technology played a central role during the Copa
América soccer tournament held in Argentina back in July.

Live feeds of the South American sporting event were
relayed in high definition broadcast quality to European and North American
fans hoping to get a glimpse of Leo Messi playing in his native country.
