MWC 2024: Ericsson Launches Solutions to Catalyze 5G Services for CSPs Globally

Ericsson has unveiled service orchestration and assurance products, solutions, and services aimed at empowering communication service providers (CSPs) to harness potential of 5G and 5G Standalone (SA) networks for high-impact use cases.
Ericsson Radios MWC 2024Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance product equips CSPs with essential tools to orchestrate and manage services across multiple network domains in hybrid IT environments, featuring multiple technology vendors. This product, designed to work seamlessly across network generations, facilitates efficient coordination of service creation and management.

Ericsson has also introduced the Ericsson Dynamic Network Slicing solution, built on the foundation of Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance, to expedite the operationalization of 5G network slicing, ensuring swift value generation and reduced implementation risk. Complementary services accompanying this solution will provide end-to-end support for service orchestration and assurance across Radio Access Networks (RAN), Core networks, and into monetization.

A recent TM Forum survey indicates that 85 percent of CSPs are contemplating simplifying service orchestration and assurance to achieve enhanced integration, streamlined processes, and closed-loop automation.

With 18 commercial contracts and 32 Proof of Concept projects already completed, Ericsson has been collaborating with CSPs to navigate their service orchestration and assurance journeys, showcasing positive outcomes across various projects.

Mats Karlsson, Head of Solution Area Business and Operations Support Systems at Ericsson, emphasized the necessity of efficient service creation and management in open programmable networks to ensure continued innovation and scalability. He underscored the significance of Ericsson’s offerings in reducing transformation risks and accelerating time-to-market for new business models.

Rainer Deutschmann, SVP and Group Chief Operating Officer at Telia Company, highlighted the role of Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance in simplifying, standardizing, and scaling service delivery. He emphasized its importance in enabling Telia to bring new, innovative services to market quickly and reliably.

Shailin Sehgal, Telstra Executive of Network Applications and Cloud, emphasized the transformative potential of 5G network slicing in delivering differentiated service experiences tailored to specific customer use cases. Sehgal reiterated Telstra’s commitment to extending this capability across a broad range of customer segments.

Ron McKenzie, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Rogers, expressed pride in Rogers’ achievement as the first operator in Canada to successfully complete a nationwide live test of 5G network slicing technology. He highlighted the potential of this technology in driving innovation and enabling new 5G use cases and applications.

Andy Hicks, Senior Principal Analyst at GlobalData, commended Ericsson for introducing comprehensive service orchestration and assurance offerings, enabling the delivery of differentiated connectivity services at scale. He emphasized the significance of these solutions in driving business outcomes and realizing closed-loop intent-based operations.

The Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance product serves as the catalyst for innovation, enabling CSPs to overcome complexity and accelerate service creation and management across multiple domains. Powered by AI and data-driven capabilities, it offers a single, open tool to design, test, and launch services quickly and efficiently.

The Ericsson Dynamic Network Slicing solution, complemented by a wide range of AI-based associated professional services, empowers CSPs to accelerate the creation, optimization, and monetization of slicing-dependent services, fostering new revenue streams and business opportunities.
