Ericsson and Entel Chile demonstrated LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) Carrier Aggregation (CA) solution supporting up to 250 Mbps data speeds.
The demonstration on September 22 used Ericsson Networks Software 14A on both 2600 MHz and APT700 MHz spectrum bands on a commercial network, using a commercial terminal.
“Entel is the first operator in Latin America to test 250 Mbps speed in a commercial LTE network,” said Antonio Buchi, CEO of Entel.
This demo places Entel on the limited list of telecom operators in the world to demonstrate LTE-A in a live network using a commercial terminal.
Ericsson claims that it is ranked first for handling the most LTE traffic – 40 percent of the world’s mobile traffic is carried over Ericsson networks, which is twice as much mobile traffic as the closest competitor.
Ericsson is the number one in LTE market share within the world’s top 100 cities.
