IDC first quarter 2014 market share report for tablet plus 2-in-1 said Samsung and Lenovo improved their positions, while Apple, Asus and Amazon slipped.
While Apple dropped Q1 2014 tablet market share to 32.5 percent from 40.2 percent in Q1 2013, Samsung rose market share to 22.3 percent from 17.5 percent, Asus dropped to 5 percent from 5.4 percent, Lenovo grew to 4.1 from 1.3 percent and Amazon fell to 1.9 percent from 3.7 percent, IDC said.
IDC said large screen size smartphones are eating into the market share of tablets.
Tablet plus 2-in-1 shipments slipped to 50.4 million units in the first quarter of 2014, IDC said today.
2014 may be a challenging year for the tablet market.
With roughly two-thirds share, Android continues to dominate the market. Windows devices continue to gain traction thanks to sleeper hits like the Asus T100.
