4G and CXOs drive Indian tablet market in Q2

Buying by CXOs at enterprises and 4G are driving the Indian tablet market in the second quarter of 2016, according to research report.

Apple has gained from CXO-level purchase of tablets.

Device vendor shipped 0.95 million (+5 percent on quarterly basis and –11 percent yearly) tablet PCs in India, according to CMR’s India Quarterly Tablet PC Market Review, 2Q CY 2016.

Datawind topped the Indian tablet market with 37.2 percent share in Q2 2016, followed by Samsung at 18.9 percent, Pantel with 11.8 percent market share.

Wi-Fi enabled tablets fell marginally to around 48 percent, and the shipment of 4G and 3G devices increase during the second quarter.

Apple posted 100 percent rise sequentially, hinting towards an uptake in CXO purchases. Increased inclination towards Apple i-Pads may help the tablets space to see a turnaround in the near future. Brands lining up for 4G foray also likely to contribute significantly to the tablets market.
