Apple has lost momentum in China and India-driven Asia Pacific. Its Q3 revenue dipped 14 percent year-on-year to $4.6 billion in Greater China. Sequentially, revenue decreased 43 percent.
In Asia Pacific, where India is a major contributor, Apple’s Q3 revenues dipped 18 percent year-on-year to $2.04 billion and 35 percent sequentially. Apple does not share India specific sales data.
Apple’s revenue in Japan increased 27 percent year-on-year to to $2.5 billion, but declined 19 percent sequentially.
Apple on Tuesday said international sales accounted for 57 percent of the quarter’s revenue.
Poor revenue growth sequentially was against the mobile phone industry expectation.
Except America (+3 percent), all other regions did not support Apple’s strategies. Sequential revenue dipped 22 percent in Europe, 43 percent in Greater China, 19 percent in Japan and 35 percent in Apac region. Retail business dipped 22 percent.
Apple posted Q3 2013 revenue of $35.3 billion against $35 billion in Q3 2012.
Its quarterly net profit dipped to $6.9 billion from $8.8 billion.
Apple sold 31.2 million iPhones compared to 26 million in the year-ago quarter.
The device major sold 14.6 million iPads compared to 17 million.
The company sold 3.8 million Macs compared to 4 million.
Apple says its fiscal 2013 fourth quarter revenue will be between $34 billion and $37 billion. Its gross margin will be between 36 percent and 37 percent.
