Sierra Wireless closes acquisition of Sagemcom M2M Business

Telecom Lead America: Sierra Wireless has closed the
acquisition of Sagemcom’s machine-to-machine (M2M) business

Sierra has acquired all of the assets of the Sagemcom M2M
business for 44.9 million euro in cash consideration plus assumed liabilities.

 

The acquisition of the Sagemcom M2M business will provide
Sierra Wireless with an enhanced market position in key segments, including
payment, transportation, and railways.

 

In addition, the acquisition will allow Sierra to expand
its operations into Brazil.

 

Sagemcom is a French high-technology group active in
broadband, telecom, energy, and document management.

 

Sagemcom has built a growing M2M franchise that includes
2G and 3G wireless modules, as well as rugged terminals for GSM-Railway (GSM-R)
applications.

 

The company’s M2M business generated approximately 39.9
million euro in revenue in the year 2011.

 

Sierra Wireless introduces thinnest 4G LTE embedded module for
AT&T

 

Recently, Sierra Wireless launched the world’s first thin
form factor (TFF) embedded wireless module for 4G LTE networks called the
AirPrime EM7700 embedded wireless module.
