Telecom Lead America: TeleCommunication Systems, a
provider of mobile communication technology, has bagged a new $19 million
delivery order from the U.S. Army.
The U.S Army has placed the order for equipment, field services
support and maintenance of Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure
Internet Protocol Router Access Point (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal
(VSAT) satellite systems.
Speaking on this new order, Michael Bristol, senior vice
president and general manager of government solutions for TCS said that the
U.S. armed forces needed satellite communications systems that are easily
deployed, secure and reliable and TCS’ SNAP VSAT satellite systems equipment
meets these criteria and can help the army succeed.
The order is initially funded at $700 thousand and will
be funded up to a total of $19 million if the options are fully exercised.
This new order will provide the U.S. Army with equipment
and support for TCS’ SNAP deployable communications products.
The project order is being funded by the U.S. Army
Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (PM WIN-T)
Commercial Satellite Terminal Program via the Army’s $5 billion World-Wide
Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle.
The funding is the result of a successful bid on a task
order for satellite communications equipment and support from the U.S. Army
Communications-Electronics Command.
The TCS SNAP VSAT systems provide multimedia
communications capabilities which convey encrypted voice, video and data.
The company claims that its SNAP products are highly
transportable and ruggedized, and have a graphical user interface that
facilitates easy set-up and operation.
