Verimatrix announced two STB solution deals with India’s MYBOX and Nepal’s DishHome as part of the strategy to strengthen presence in Asia.
MYBOX, a set-top box (STB) provider in India, has integrated its Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for DVB solution into its digital set-top boxes (STBs).
Verimatrix – at the BroadcastAsia 2018 event in Singapore – said that the solution packages locally-manufactured STB hardware from MYBOX with conditional access provisioned by Verimatrix to offer cost-effective solution for DVB cardless security to Indian pay-TV operators.
“With the combined strength of this collaboration, we can develop STBs in house that give our customers the confidence, transparency and flexibility they need to succeed in today’s market,” Amit Kharabhanda, chief executive officer or MYBOX, said.
MYBOX provides STBs to cable and satellite major operators across India and has reached more than 15 million pay-TV customers.
Verimatrix will support MYBOX to offer better hardware and CAS security to Indian pay-TV operators. In addition, Verimatrix will also assist MYBOX in avoiding long lead times required to procure STBs from overseas manufacturers.
Steve Oetegenn, president of Verimatrix, said: The strengths of both companies complement each other to offer the modern, cost-effective technology Indian pay-TV operators need to streamline their business models.”
The STBs will support Amazon’s Alexa voice-based assistant for better user experience, a first for the segment globally. MYBOX set-top box users will be able to use all the features on Alexa devices, including voice command-based search, entertainment/ music, shopping and more. This is MYBOX’s first product in the IoT domain.
MYBOX, a Hero Electronix venture, is one of the STB manufacturers with presence across the country and catering to operators in both Cable and DTH segments.
Verimatrix also announced that customer DishHome has extended its investment to support next-generation DVB cardless security, powered by the VCAS Ultra platform.
Headquartered in Kathmandu, DishHome is Nepal’s largest direct-to-home (DTH) operator and has relied on Verimatrix for DVB security since 2011.
