Airtel names Ajay Chitkara to head the combined domestic and global business

Bharti Airtel announced the appointment of Ajay Chitkara as director and CEO of Airtel Business, the enterprise division of the largest telecom operator.

Airtel Business will now include both domestic enterprise and global enterprise operations of the company. Ajay Chitkara will continue reporting to Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO – Bharti Airtel.

Ajay Chitkara has been with Airtel since 2001 and is credited with building brand Airtel in the global wholesale segment.

Ajay Chitkara, as director and CEO – Airtel Global Business and Nxtra, was responsible for creating business strategies for Carriers, Global Enterprise and OTT segments, and implementing them globally through the regional teams.

Airtel Global Business achieved a billion dollar business, while EBIT margins rose five-fold since 2013 – under the leadership of Ajay Chitkara.

Airtel also announced the appointment of Pankaj Miglani as CEO – Global Business. Pankaj will report to Ajay Chitkara. In his previous role, Pankaj Miglani was CFO – Bharti Infratel and played a key role in the company’s IPO in 2012.

Pankaj Miglani has earlier worked in Airtel for 10 years in various roles, including chief controller – Enterprise Business and business head – Global Voice Services.
