Huawei powers Vodafone’s LTE broadcast eMBMS trial in Spain

Telecom network vendor Huawei today said Vodafone Spain has conducted LTE broadcast eMBMS (Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services) technology trial in Spain.

LTE broadcast eMBMS enables the distribution of multimedia content to unlimited number of users by reusing the existing 4G network. This eMBMS solution offers 5 channels in HD (High Definition) format.

Vodafone utilizing eMBMS technology from Huawei offered real time access to five channels of multimedia content to select smartphone users during the match between Valencia and Celta at Estadio Mestalla in Valencia on May 17.

“The implementation of this technology for broadcasting multimedia content, through Vodafone’s 4G network, reaffirms our leadership to provide innovative technology solutions” said Jin Yong, managing director of Huawei Carrier Business in Spain.
