Fortinet signs data center firewall deal with Swisscom

Fortinet today announced its data center firewall and security deal with Swisscom, a telecom operator in Switzerland.

As per the deal, Fortinet will supply FortiGate data center firewall, FortiManager security management appliance and FortiAnalyzer network security logging, analysis and reporting solutions to protect service delivery data center infrastructure.

As per the Swisscom 2020 corporate strategy, Swisscom, which has annual turnover of over 11 billion euros, aims to secure its service delivery infrastructure. A key part of its strategy is to build the best possible data center infrastructure for over 100 different customer-facing services.

Swisscom implemented the FortiGate 3700D, a data center firewall. The Fortinet appliance enables protection, which can be far more rapidly rolled out to new services thanks to its segmentation and virtualization (VDOM) capabilities.

“With better scalability, and excellent virtualisation and network functionality, Fortinet’s solution enables resilient and innovative services. The Fortinet firewalls required no tweaking or tuning to reach their high performance test values,” said Gianpiero Tavano, network and security development engineer at Swisscom.

Fortinet’s FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer appliances serve to unify visibility and processes for Swisscom’s geographically distributed team of 30 administrators.
