DTH subscriber base in India reaches 69.37 million

India’s DTH subscriber base has increased to 69.37 million in the June quarter of 2018 from 67.53 million in March quarter.

Dish TV has 42 percent of the India DTH market. Tata Sky is in the second position with 25 percent share. Airtel, which has 21 percent share, is the third largest DTH operator in India. Sun Direct has 11 percent share.
DTH operator market share India June 2018This is in addition the subscribers of free DTH services of Doordarshan, a channel owned by India Government.

India has 309 pay channels reported by 49 broadcasters as compared to 308 pay channels in the previous quarter. These 309 pay channels include 212 SD pay TV channels and 97 HD Pay TV channels.
DTH subscriber grow in India
The growth of DTH subscriber base is slow as compared with the number of households in India. DTH subscriber grew from 65.31 million from June 2017 to 66.09 million in Sept 2017 to 67.56 million in December 2017 to 67.53 million in March 2018.
