Canal+ taps Cisco to broadcast Champions League final

Canal+ Group has utilized the Cisco Videoscape AnyRes Live ultra high definition (UHD) encoders for broadcasting the UEFA Champions League final on June 6 in 4K ultra high definition over satellite and OTT.

4K resolution offers 8.3 million pixels to display a flawless picture, delivering vivid colors and picture details on the largest screens.
Cisco announced the development at ANGA COM 2015.

The Cisco AnyRes 4K Encoder offers better quality and for real-time media delivery applications such as live sports. Broadcasters can utilize the Cisco AnyRes platform can stream multiple formats to any device, including iPhone, iPad, feature phones and smartphones, as well as delivering ultra HD video to TVs.

The broadcast of the UEFA Champions League final — from Berlin — to global audience delivered 4K UHD picture, using HEVC compression technology to minimize the bandwidth, along with the highest quality encoding using an HEVC/H.265 codec developed by Cisco.
