Brand Finance has shared the top telecom brands in India and globally.
Bharti Airtel is India’s most valuable telecoms brand with its value increasing 18 percent to $4.5 billion since 2014, whilst its brand rating was upgraded to AAA-.
The Sunil Mittal-promoted Airtel has succeeded in becoming popular with the young market by introducing 4G LTE services and via tie-ups with brands such as Samsung to implement services and create customer touchpoints with the brands.
Idea Cellular had the most notable brand value growth with an increase of 50 percent to $1.7 billion, while Reliance Communications was the largest telecoms brand to lose value with value dipping 21 percent to $1 billion.
Leading telecom brands
American wireless major Verizon is the top global telecoms brand.
Verizon rival AT&T is the second top most valuable telecoms brand. China Mobile, the largest telecom operator in the world based on mobile subscribers, is in the third position.
Deutsche Telekom is the fourth valuable telecom brand.
Vodafone and Orange are in fifth and sixth positions.
Indian telecoms are not part of the top 20 list. Three Chinese telecom operators — China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom are in the top 20 list.
