Maharashtra telecom circle leads Internet user market, says TRAI

Telecom circle Maharashtra including Mumbai and Goa is leading the Internet subscribers including internet access by mobile device users in India during September 2013 quarter.

Maharashtra has 33.53 million Internet users, TRAI data said.

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarkhand is in the second position with 20.87 million users.

Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, and Pondicherry has 16.81 million Internet users.

Delhi telecom circle has 16.23 million Internet users at the end of September quarter of 2013, TRAI said.

Internet users in Andhra Pradesh were 15.62 million, while Gujarat and Karnataka has 13.92 million and 13.46 million users.

TRAI said total number of internet subscribers including internet access by mobile device subscribers increased from 198.39 million at the end of Jun-13 to 210.38 million at the end of Sep-13, registering a quarterly growth of 6.04 percent.

Number of subscribers who accessed internet by mobile devices is 188.20 million during QE Sep-13. There were 22.19 million internet subscribers excluding those subscribers accessing internet by mobile devices, at the end of Sep-13 as compared to 21.89 million at the end of Jun-13, registering a quarterly growth of 1.38 percent.
