CounterPath’s softphone applications to power Altibox Loop users to make mobile calls using home phone number

Telecom Lead America: CounterPath, a developer of desktop and mobile VoIP software products and solutions, announced its agreement with Altibox, a Norwegian triple-play service provider.

Leveraging Bria, CounterPath’s mobile and tablet softphone applications, Altibox Loop allows customers to make mobile calls using their home phone number regardless of their location.

According to research firm Visiongain, Mobile VoIP users will exceed 180 million and generate $36 billion in revenue by 2016. As such, operators like Altibox are continually looking for ways to increase service and provide value to their customers.

Altibox Loop app works on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices as well as Android smartphones.  The service is available to all Altibox home phone fixed telephony subscribers. It enables users to call any phone number whether recipients are an Altibox customer or not. Altibox Loop features include video calling, HD audio, call logs, an integrated contact list, three-way calling and voicemail.
