Sunrise reveals Capex, revenue, subscriber growth, Opex in first-quarter

Sunrise has revealed its financial result – Capex, revenue, subscriber growth, profit, Opex – for the first quarter of 2024.

Sunrise’s Consumer Mobile revenue reached CHF 302.3 million (down 1.0 percent) due to lower device sales, a declining prepaid base, partially offset by subscriber growth in postpaid revenue supported by flanker brand performance including the impact of the price increase across brands.

Sunrise’s Consumer Fixed business achieved revenue of CHF 280.6 million (down 2.3 percent) primarily impacted by lower monthly subscription income due to the right-pricing in the existing customer base as well as lower variable income.

Sunrise’s B2B business grew primarily with revenues from the wholesale voice business with lower margins, subscription revenues, installation and integration services, revenues from mobile devices and from the MVNO business and reached CHF 147.7 million (up 4.8 percent).

Sunrise’s investments totaled CHF 131.0 million (17.5 percent of sales) in networks, product innovations and digital services in Q1 2024.

“We have started 2024 with a strong operational and solid financial result. We continued our growth momentum in mobile postpaid across all segments, despite a generally less liquid market compared to the previous year. At the same time, we achieved strong net growth in the Internet segment that was also driven by increased customer loyalty,” Andre Krause, CEO of Sunrise, said.

Sunrise gained 28,000 mobile postpaid connections in Q1.

Sunrise added 6,200 broadband connections.

The growth momentum was supported by measures such as switching existing customers to the current product portfolio in a value-neutral manner, increased activities to increase customer loyalty and stronger positioning of the main Sunrise brand. yallo as a secondary brand and B2B also contributed to the continued growth.

Sunrise has 2.854 million mobile connections (3.3 million including second SIM cards), 1.187 million broadband connections (1.258 million including SMEs) and 1.194 million TV connections (1.264 million including SMEs).

Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) penetration was 58.7 percent, an increase of +1.1 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
