Router and switch share of Cisco and Juniper Networks fell during the fourth quarter of 2017, according to IDC report.

Cisco, Huawei, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Arista and Juniper Networks are the top five switch suppliers in the world.

Ethernet switch market revenue rose 3.2 percent to $6.9 billion in Q4 and grew 5.4 percent to $25.7 billion in 2017.

Total enterprise and service provider (SP) router market revenue increased 2.4 percent to $4 billion in Q4 and rose 4 percent to $15.2 billion in 2017.

“The Ethernet switching market continues to rapidly mature with customers quickly moving to higher 100GbE speeds, especially in datacenter deployments,” said Rohit Mehra, vice president, Network Infrastructure at IDC.

IDC said the enterprise and service provider router market grew 2.4 percent in Q4 with the larger service provider segment rising 1.4 percent and the enterprise portion growing 5.3 percent.
