How Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL performed in broadband space

The recent TRAI report indicates the performance of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular, BSNL and Reliance Communications in the broadband market.

The number of broadband subscribers in India increased 2.62 percent to 140.10 million in January 2016 from 136.53 million in December 2015, according to the recent TRAI statistics.

India had 16.63 million wired broadband subscribers, 122.98 million mobile devices users (phones and dongles) and 0.49 million fixed wireless subscribers (Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, Point-toPoint Radio and VSAT).

The leading five wired broadband service providers were BSNL (9.90 million), Bharti Airtel (1.68 million), MTNL (1.12 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (0.89 million) and YOU Broadband (0.51 million), said TRAI.

The leading wireless broadband service providers in India were Bharti Airtel (31.02 million), Vodafone (26.23 million), Idea Cellular (22.04 million), Reliance Communications (15.37 million) and BSNL (10.26 million).

Leading broadband service providers – both wired and wireless – in India were Bharti Airtel (32.7 million), Vodafone (26.24 million), Idea Cellular (22.04 million), BSNL (20.16 million) and Reliance Communications (15.49 million).
