Vodafone rules out merger with Liberty, confirms talks

Telecom service provider Vodafone Group today confirmed its talks with cable major Liberty Global for a potential transaction.
The UK-based telecom giant, however, ruled out a merger with Liberty Global.

“Vodafone confirms that it is in the early stages of discussions with Liberty Global regarding a possible exchange of selected assets between the two companies,” said Vodafone in a statement.

“There is no certainty that any transaction will be agreed, nor is there certainty with respect to which assets will ultimately be involved,” said Vodafone.

Vodafone said “it is not in discussions with Liberty Global concerning a combination of the two companies.”

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that both Vodafone Group and Liberty Global are considering several options including the merger between the two.
