Verizon appoints Kalyani Sekar as MD of technology arm

Verizon today announced the appointment of Kalyani Sekar as the managing director of Verizon Data Services India, the IT and Technology arm of Verizon in India.

Kalyani Sekar succeeds Santosh Bijur.

In his new role, Kalyani Sekar will lead an employee base of nearly 6,700 in Chennai and Hyderabad responsible for Verizon Communications’ India IT & Technology operations creating value for the corporation.

Prior to her new appointment, Kalyani was senior delivery head, based out of Chennai, responsible for Business and Operations Support Systems for Verizon Wireless and FiOS in the US.

Kalyani Sekar joined Verizon in 2002 and held leadership positions including setting up of the India IT teams to support Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Data Services India is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications. Set up in June 2001, VDS India supports Verizon’s domestic wireless and wire-line businesses in the US as well as its global Enterprise Solutions business (VES).
