Top 10 telecom operators in India based on mobile user base in February 2012

Telecom Lead India:
Bharti Airtel is continuing to lead the mobile market in India with 19.62
percent market share in February 2012. The second mobile operator is Reliance
Communications with 16.68 percent share. Vodafone and Idea Cellular are in third
and fourth positions with 16.4 percent and 12.15 percent market share. BSNL is
in fifth position with 10.73 percent market share. Top 10 operator list is
given at the end of the article.

 

According to TRAI, total wireless subscriber base increased
from 903.73 million in January 2012 to 911.17 million at the end of February
2012, registering a growth of 0.82 percent. The share of urban subscriber has marginally
decreased from 65.41 percent to 65.20 percent where as share of rural subscribers has marginally increased from 34.59 percent to
34.80 percent. The overall wireless Tele density in India reaches 75.42.

 

Wireless subscription in urban areas increased from 591.10
million in January 2012 to 594.11 million at the end of February 2012. The subscription
in rural areas increased from 312.62 million to 317.06 million during the same period.
This shows higher growth in rural subscription (1.42  percent) than urban subscription (0.51 percent).
The urban wireless teledensity has increased from 162.06 to 162.61 and rural
teledensity has increased from 37.13 to 37.62.
