Telenor India appoints Sharad Mehrotra as CEO

Telecom network operator Telenor Group today appointed Sharad Mehrotra as CEO of Telenor India.

The appointment of Sharad Mehrotra follows the appointment of Vivek Sood as executive vice president and CMO of Telenor Group. Sood and Mehtrotra will be part of Telenor Group executive management team.

Mehrotra comes from the position as chief marketing officer of Telenor Myanmar, and was part of the Telenor India management team for more than four years from 2008.

“India is one of the most competitive mobile markets in the world, and Telenor India has rapidly grown into a top position in the areas where we operate. I look forward to work with Telenor India’s passionate and highly dedicated team to continue being best on basic services and deliver internet for all,” said Sharad Mehrotra, incoming CEO of Telenor India.

Vivek Sood, as CMO, will be responsible for strengthening Telenor Group’s focus on and ability to improve customer journeys, ensure continued innovation, and create value from digital data growth. As CEO of Telenor India, Sharad will also be a member of Telenor Group’s executive management.

As the chief marketing officer of Telenor Myanmar, Mehrotra was responsible for sales, marketing, distribution, branding and customer centricity. Sharad has extensive senior management experience from telecoms operations and infrastructure industries.

Before joining Telenor Myanmar recently, Sharad served as head of Telenor Group’s Asia Distribution program driving regional synergies and scale, as well as having played a key role in establishing Uninor, Telenor’s subsidiary in India.
