Telecom Lead Europe: TelefonicaDigital, a global
business division of Telefonica, has tapped Acme Packet to support the new TU
brand of enhanced communications services.
Telefonica Digital has deployed some of the key elements
of Acme Packet’s session delivery networking portfolio. It is using Acme
Packet’s Net-Net SIP Multimedia-Xpress (SMX) and Net-Net
Session-aware Load Balancer (SLB).
With the solutions deployed, Telefonica Digital is able
to use functions of the deployment such as core session routing and control,
cluster expansion and contraction, client registration, border security, and account
management.
All these capabilities will be seen in the TU services
also known as TU Me. The company said that users of TU Me can exchange text
messages, make calls, leave voice messages, share photos, and location
information.
By building the architecture to enable scalability and
load balancing, Acme Packet’s feature-rich solution not only helped lower both
operational and capital expenditures, it helped us get the TU Me service to
market in less than 100 days,” said Benjamin Keyser, head of Over the Top
Products at Telefonica Digital.
Acme Packet claims that its scalable solution provides
cost-effective session management functions, which allows quick and efficient
roll-out of new services such as high-definition voice, messaging, file
sharing, and video on multiple mobile platforms.

standards-based deployment models, but still be able to deliver the types of
next generation services promised by the future architecture,” said Mario
Oliveira, vice president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa, and Caribbean and

Telefonica selects Verimatrix for digital IPTV service
Earlier, Telefonica del Sur (Telsur) selected the
Verimatrix Video Content Authority (VCAS) 3 solution to secure
its IPTV service.
