Telecom ministry gets 5/10 rating from COAI

The Indian telecom ministry – headed by Ravi Shankar Prasad – has received 5-6/10 rating from COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India).

The rating is for the ministry and its divisions and its performance for the last six months.

Rajan S Mathews, director general at COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India), said there are some progresses. But lack of execution is impacting everyone in the Indian telecom industry.”

For the full details, please see the video:

“Though I am not happy with the overall performance of the ministry, there are good administrators there who can really take Indian telecom story to the next level,” Mathews told TelecomLead.com TV during an event — Broadband for All — organized by Ericsson India.

The telecom industry body COAI represents mobile operators such as Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone India, etc.

Echoing the sentiment of COAI, a regulatory head of a leading telecom operator, which attended a telecom event organized by Huawei, said: “The 5/10 rating is true. There is no progress in decision making and execution.”
