Deutsche Telekom joins Equinix Ethernet exchange to expand presence

Telecom Lead Europe: Equinix, a provider of data center
services, announced that Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions
(ICSS), a wholesale arm of Deutsche Telekom AG, has joined the Equinix Ethernet
Exchange.

Deutsche Telekom is looking at better serving the demand
for Ethernet traffic. With the association, Deutsche Telekom will have
automatic access to Platform Equinix and a 4,000-strong global ecosystem of
networks, enterprises, cloud and content service providers.

Deutsche Telekom can expand the reach of carrier Ethernet
services available through the Equinix Ethernet Exchange to connect to millions
of locations within Deutsche Telekom’s strong on-net coverage in Western,
Central and Eastern Europe including Germany.

The Equinix Ethernet Exchange has more than 58 members
providing access to many millions of service locations in approximately 100
countries.

It enables service providers, cloud and SaaS providers
and their customers to build elastic end-to-end SLA-based services across a
global Layer 2 Ethernet footprint, with faster provisioning time and scalable
bandwidth.

It provides revenue opportunities via direct
interconnectivity with a global ecosystem of partners and customers, including
690 network service providers, all securely co-located in Equinix’s
International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers.

With our extensive Ethernet portfolio we are well
positioned to cope with the drastically increasing Ethernet demand of the
industry. Connecting to Equinix’s Ethernet Exchange provides us with an
innovative platform that extends our and our customers’ reach at affordable
cost,” said Holger Magnussen, senior vice president, International Carrier
Sales & Solutions at Deutsche Telekom.

As the largest telecommunications business in Europe
they add greater diversity and reach for Ethernet end-users and at the same
time generate new partnership and revenue opportunities within the global
Equinix Marketplace,” said Dick Theunissen, chief marketing officer for Equinix
in EMEA.
